The plot of The Martian is innovative. A manned mission to Mars results in an austronaut, Mark Watney (Matt Damon), being left behind by his crew who return safely. He is presumed dead but ends up recovering.

Then there is the politics back on earth to make sure that the event of finding out that he's alive is handled appropriately.

What a cast; Matt Damon, Kate Mara, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Jessica Chastain, Kristen Wiig (providing some comic relief), Jeff Daniels, Michael Pena and Sean Bean.

The Mars landscapes are also a treat. Enjoy the full 141 minutes.
