Review

The original Maverick show (1957 - 1962) was James Garner at his best. It was a cult hit. This follow up series (1981) is set in Sweetwater, Arizona in the 1880s. Bret owns a ranch and part of the Red Ox Saloon. The supporting cast and villains were superb. There are different types of stories. Usually it involved conflict between the head strong sheriff and the rest of the civilians. The original series launched the careers of many actors and actresses and solidified James Garner/Maverick as one of America's most loved characters.
