The film follows Jordan Belfort (played by Leonardo DiCaprio) as he rises from a young, hungry Wall Street trainee to the outrageously wealthy head of his own brokerage firm, Stratton Oakmont. Belfort and his crew make their fortune by running massive stock market scams, manipulating penny stocks, and aggressively ripping off investors. As the money pours in, so do the excesses: nonstop drug use, lavish mansions and yachts, sex, parties, and total moral freefall. Jordan lives by the motto of more: more money, more pleasure, more power—while ignoring the growing legal trouble around him. Eventually, the FBI closes in, and the lifestyle that once seemed untouchable starts to crack.
