It starts with the Marvel Studios Intro Graphics which is always cool. Kurt Russell plays Ego the Alien father of Peter Quill/Star Lord (played by Chris Pratt). These scenes are set in the past when he's courting his mother. Then they cut to a scene with the Guardians of the Galaxy battling an massive octopus-type alien beast. Groot (voiced by Vin Diesel) is now tiny and re-sprouting after being all but destroyed in the first movie. Gamora (played by Zoe Zaldana), Drax (played by Dave Bautista) and Rocket (voiced by Bradley Cooper) make up the rest of the Guardians of the Galaxy.
The first fighting scenes against this Octopus monster are great. They work as a team to bring it down. After this battle the team get rewarded by the host planet. Their queen is Ayesha played by the talented and beautiful elizabeth-debecki. After Rocket steals Anulax Batteries from them there is a disagreement and the Gaurdians fly off only to be chased by the host planet's army. The army is actually a series of drone spaceships controlled via computers on the planet, cool and original! Drax has to put on a space suit and jump out and blast the drones. The guardians then land on another planet.
Ego appears in his own spaceship on the planet the Guardians are on. Sylvester Stallone appears. He has an argument with the Yondu played by Michael Rooker (who was Peter Quill's care taker as a child). Ego tells Peter he is his father. Ego calls Rocket a triangular faced monkey! Rocket is a great fighter and takes on many men trying to destroy the Guardians.
The interiors of Ego's spaceship are cool. There is a girl alien with antenna's (Mantis played hilariously by Pom Klementieff) that was brought up by Ego. They then all go to Ego's planet which is peacefull. Ego then explains that he is a god and he created this planet and so it's linked to his existance.
The first group of baddies that are after the guardians capture Rocket and Drax. This movie has some laugh out loud moments that makes this Sci Fi franchise unique. Mini groot is asked to undertake tasks to help them escape and it's funny.
Yondu's crazy whistle-weapon from the first movie is back! They all escape because of this advanced weapon. Sadly Yondu dies later on saving Peter Quill's life. There is a sibling rivalry between Gamora and Nebula (played by Karen Gillan). Ego ends up being too greedy and wants Peter (his son) to be a God alongside him. But in reality he just wants to double his power by drawing power from Pratt. The Guardians in the end has a massive battle with Ego.
I won't spoil the ending. I will say this franchise is going very well. Great comedy through out and the action sequences are very memorable. The weapons and ways of fighting are very unique in this franchise.
"Also, the supporting cast is fantastic. Elizabeth Debecki and Sylvester Stallone are the stand outs"136 minutes of solid action and laughs.
