This movie starts off in San Francisco's Chinatown. Tom's grandmother is guardian of the "phoenix egg". She passes away. Tom must apprentice with a tiger called Mr. Hu and become the egg's new protector. They team with an unlikely band of exotic creatures that can morph into human form.
